Is there a software upgrade that's available for my MacBook 2008 model?

Is there a software upgrade that's available for my MacBook 2008 model? Apparently because my computer is nearly 5 years old, I'm not eligible to install Mavericks. Is there anything else I can use that's higher than 10.6.8?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu. If the computer has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB of RAM, click here.

Mac OS X 10.7 doesn't support PowerPC applications such as Microsoft Office 2004.
