iPod 5 not connecting to home wifi

My wifi at home was down for a while and then it came back up but during that time I kept trying to connect to our wifi with my iPod. Once the wifi was back, my iPod wouldn't connect to it, although it could find the network. I'm running iOS 7, but not the newest version.

I've tried everything short of reinstalling the router.

  • Turned off and then turned on the iPod
  • Reset Network Settings
  • Reset everything and erasing all the content
  • Reset Settings
  • Turned off and then turned on router
  • Turned off iPod and router at the same time
  • Let the iPod run out of battery
  • Manually entered in the information in Static and then switching to DHCP later

My friend could connect to our home wifi with her iPhone 4 iOS 7, and both our Macbook 2005 and MacPro 2011 can connect fine, but neither our iPod or iPad can, and we've just been piggybacking on the neighbor's wifi for now.

Is there anything else I can try?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?

Does the iOS device see the network?

Any error messages?

Do other devices now connect?

Did the iOS device connect before?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Power off and then back on your router

.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network

- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem I conclude yo have a network problem since you iPod connects to other devices. May be time for a new router. As a test I would reconfigure your router to to use not security as a test. Then add security with a simple password.
