Q: If I erase all information on my old phone, will it be removed from i cloud? As currently i cannot back up my new i phone.

Hi All,

 

this is the first time using.

 

If I erase all the information on my old I phone 4 will this remove it from my i cloud? As currently I cannot back up my new I phone.

Hello Mootang60,

 

Congratulations on your new iPhone!  It sounds like you would like to free up some of your iCloud storage to backup your new iPhone. 

 

Erasing the data from the previous iPhone will not free up your iCloud storage, but you can delete the iCloud backup from the old phone to free up the storage:

 

Deleting backups and turning off Backup for your device

iOS 5 and later

  1. Tap Settings, then tap the iCloud icon.
  2. Tap Storage & Backup.
  3. Tap Manage Storage.
  4. Tap your iOS device in the Backups area.
  5. Tap Delete Backup.
  6. You will be asked to confirm this change. Deleting this backup will also turn off Backup of your iOS device. Choose Turn Off & Delete if you want to turn off Backup and remove all backups for this iOS device from iCloud.
