Unable to change user name in Mail

I have a second-hand Macbook with Leopard. I set my e-mail account correctly (I can send and receive e-mails), but when I send an e-mail, the name of the sender is the one of the former owner of the laptop (although the e-mail adress is mine). I already changed my name in the Mail---> Preferences menu.

How could I solve this?

Thank you very much!!

If you have the 10.5 Leopard disks, reinstallling the operating system from scratch would surely give you peace of mind that this Macbook is now yours and that you are not simply an interloper using someone else's old software and old accounts etc.

Starting afresh will be empowering!

If you don't have the disks, your Macbook will run 10.6 and the DVD can be purchased for only $20.

Here is a U.S. link, but the idea is the same.
