Moving Books from iTunes to iBooks in Mavericks?

I found this to be confusing because once I moved Books from iTunes to iBooks in Mavericks (Mac minis etc.) I expected all of my PDFs (all books selected) to turn up on all my IOS devices. They did not. Many PDFs were missing from the various IOS devices.

Eventually I figured out that by selecting "Move Books from iTunes" when each individual IOS was docked that I was finally able to get all of my PDFs onto all of my IOS devices.

Now I find that apparently iBooks does not duplicate the PDFs from one Mavericks Mac to other Mac's.

Any ideas on how to get my iBooks collections (not Apple downloads but legal downloads) from one Mac to other Mac's?

I had guessed that the purpose of iBooks was to share date between IOS and OS devices but also between OS and other OS devices. Was I mistaken?

Thanks,

Jerry
