how many macs can I install OS X 10.8 on with my CDs?

Sort of long story. Our house was broken into and my son's MacBook was stolen 2 years ago. The insurance company replaced the MacBook, but now the HD has "unrecoverable errors" and we need to replace the HD. I told son, go get the CDs out of the MacBook box that came with the laptop. He says, "Dad, no cds in teh box."

So how am I supposed to run BootCamp with no CDs???

Thanks,

Glen

P.S. Model number if this helps: A1342 - Part No: MC516LLA/A - Serial No: 451023K2F5W

Macs launched after July 2011 did not come with DVDs. Instead, you can use OS X Recovery to reinstall OS X > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

Respecting to install Windows by using Boot Camp, Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities) lets you download the Windows support software you need to install in Windows. Then, follow Apple's steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf

Respecting to your title question, you can install OS X in all your Macs, always that the Mac is using your Apple ID

Well color me stupid! 😊 lol, That makes a lot of sense. I guess I have a different issue then: It seems that when I hold the Control Alt key when powering on, but the macBook won't recognize my new hard disk; Just stays at the grey screen. I can put the old drive back in and although it has "unrepairable errors" I can still access the Utility menu in about 5 seconds. i have tried a few other drives as well.

Will it/should it recognize a 500GB 7200RPM Western Digital drive? Or do I have to do anything else to prepare the disk first?

Thanks in advance!

Glen
