Late 2011 MBP won't turn on anymore. Magsafe light is dim green. All problems ending up with this one started after the Mavericks update a couple of weeks back. Any ideas?

So it all started when i updated to mavericks from mountain lion. First the internal clock got reset to 01 january 2008...twice a few days apart. And today after running some updates i restarted the mbp and it wont turn on anymore. Magsafe light was on and dimmed all the way down to a very low point of green. Tried CTRL OPTION and power and it didnt work. What are the suggestions ? Note i am nowhere near to a genius bar, closest one requires me to travel. Local apple authorized reseller would take days to fix it and i cant afford the time at the moment, having some major projects going on and data that may not be backed up. Urgent help required on a solution.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Brenden thanks for the response, i actually went to an Apple Authorized center, no apple stores being in my vicinity, they solved the issue in less time than it takes saying it as resetting the SMC was not working.

apparently it was a short circuit from a bad power connection, computer is back and running again, nothing to do with OS X update or a bad charger.

thanks anyways,
