Q: iBook G4 AC Adapter or DC Inboard?
Alrighty guys here is the issue and ill make it fast, The old HDD in my iBook (14INCH, 1.42 GHz) was dead, I replaced it with a old samsung ATA drive ( Which I formatted to a Apple Partition Table) and when I turned it on the Fans would run at max and there'd be a black screen, curious I did a day of Googleing and thought my logic board was dead, I wanted my Samsung drive back so I replaced it with the broken 100GB Drive from Apple and I pressed the power button just for kicks and I heard the chime and saw the"?" on the screen, I decided not to throw it away and to inspect it the next day, the next day I pressed the power button and nothing happened, I pressed it again and heard the hard drive trying to spin, I noticed the AC Adapter light was yellow instead of the orange or green ( There is no battery in my iBook ), so I jiggled the AC adapter around to find it to boot, I slapped in a Linux disc (I just ordered OSX Leopard) just to see if it would see the hard drive in it, and it died. So after more Googleing I found that my AC-In-Board adapter would be dead or the AC Adapter itself would be dead, so which would it be? PS: The Light Adapter will switch between Green-Yellow-Orange wheen the power button is being pressed. I have no problem ordering a $10 DC-Inboard or $10 adapter as this iBook was given to me and I want it to work.
PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.5), iBook G4 6,7

For anyone who was curious while reading this thread I've gone upon myself to buy the DC-Inboard instead of the adapter because the adapter worked fine before I installed the HD into it and replaced the DC-Inboard with success, Leopard is coming in and can't wait to install it, fixing this iBook took a while and was very fun! I may buy a old 12inch G4 that needs some TLC. Cheers -JP
