music from my itunes won't sync to my new ipad air

I can't get any of my music to transfer to my new ipad Air. I tried via wifi, the cable, manually dragging it over, restoring my ipad, reinstalling itunes with no luck. I'm ready to just return this. Playing music is should be the simplest thing this ipad does.

Only music????

That is weird. I will assume you are using the same iTunes account, Apple ID and computer.

Does music still play on your computer?

Is this a shared iTunes account with other Apple IDs or devices?

- things to check-

In settings - general - about - songs. Does is show any songs as being on the iPad?

Next....

In settings - music - set switch for "show all music" to ON

This should allow you to show all music in the cloud (purchased from iTunes) which you can then download directly to the iPad.

Last

Settings - general - restrictions. Turn them off.

So everything on my cloud shows up. I can play them via my wifi. However, I can't download any songs onto the iPad itself. Again, this sounds like a software issue. This is so frustrating. I want to be able to listen to my music wherever I am. That is why I bought the higher memory ipad. I'm ready to return it and go back to my old mini.

If this fails, do a little poking in iTunes on the computer to see if any settings were changed which prevent the music from syncing.

If you have another device and music does sync to that device, first try a reset of all settings (should return to default)

You could try restoring the iPad with backup from older device.

Last resort, do a complete restore to factory and set up again, possibly with a backup from older device.

I'm a "novice" just bought my 1st iPad ever (iPad Air) and I was concerned about not having my entire music library also. I went into my iPad, disabled WiFi, changed my iTunes settings for data updates, etc, then connected my iPad to iTunes. It then gave me the options you would normally see when syncing an iPhone. I then selected "Music" in the sidebar (which didn't appear when I attempted to sync my iPad when I purchased it) and now my entire music library is available to sync to my iPad. I am still syncing now (lots of music), but this looks more familiar, like it looks when I sync my iPhone, whereas when I synced before I believe it only added things I had purchased through iTunes alone. I think this is working, my fingers are still crossed, but it's looking quite promising. I know I'm late to this discussion but I hope it helps since I found this searching for answers as well. :-)
