Jan 6, 2014 1:06 AM in response to JacksonSMSby Michel Colman,Same here. I have invited my wife to follow me, the follow request appears on her iPad, but when I try to accept it, I get "Find My Friends is unavailable due to a server error". When I try to send a follow request to myself from her iPad, I get the same error message. I checked the server status, and there are no reported problems, all servers are green.

Jan 6, 2014 1:13 AM in response to JacksonSMSby Rojmer,You need to toggle find my friends ON in location services in Settings in both iPhones.

Jan 6, 2014 6:09 AM in response to Rojmerby Michel Colman,Location services is enabled on all the devices, so that's not the reason. They all show their own position on the map, I just can't invite or accept invitations.

Jan 14, 2014 11:03 AM in response to chele0205by Michel Colman,I ended up being able to solve it. It turned out the e-mail address associated with the account was not set up correctly.
I found out by accident when I tried to get Find My Friends to work on an older device with iOS 6. When I installed Find My Friends on that device, the App Store said the latest version required iOS 7 but I could load the previous version of Find My Friends.
This older version turned out to be much more helpful: instead of the server error, it told me exactly what the problem was. I just selected the correct e-mail address (which was the only one in the list, but not actually active) and everything worked correctly from then on.

Jan 14, 2014 3:31 PM in response to Michel Colmanby iamannabelley,Hi, i'm having the servor error problems now. How did you select the correct email address? I deleted the app then re-installed it but it doesnt seem to work for me

Jan 15, 2014 1:16 AM in response to iamannabelleyby Michel Colman,Tap on the "i" next to your own name to get to your settings. Then scroll down to "Invitations - send as". There's an e-mail address there that might not be the right one.
You don't necessarily have the same problem, though. You might get the same error message for a different reason. If you can find an older device with iOS 6, try installing "Find My Friends" there (the older version), log in, send an invitation, and see what kind of error message you get. The old version seems to be a lot more helpful than the new one.

Jan 21, 2014 9:26 AM in response to Michel Colmanby Sara Liljegren,Hi Michel
How do you change it to the proper e-mail address?
I think I am on the right track. The address is different than the one I check in with, but I can't seem to change the address to the proper one...

Jan 22, 2014 12:31 AM in response to Sara Liljegrenby Michel Colman,When I tapped the address, it gave me a list with the correct address in it, and I just tapped that. In fact, strangely, the incorrect address that had been picked by default was not even in this list!
If the address is not listed, maybe just try checking all your settings for iCloud and other services in the system Settings app to make sure the correct address is coupled to your account. You may have to reply to a verification e-mail or something like that, just follow whatever directions you get. Then check the "send as" setting in Find My Friends again.

Jul 15, 2016 10:16 PM in response to Chmarkby RaulfromGuayaquil,For me, the problem "... unavailable due a server error" disappear after I logged in to iCloud.com with the problematic apple id, after trying Find My Friends web version then the iPhone version was working ok, no more error message.
