Steaming on AirPort without internet?

Hi all,

I just bought an airport to stream music from my mac/ipad to my speakers. The problem is that I'm surfing on the internet over the WiFi of my workplace. So in iTunes I can't see my airport only Apple TV's of friends.

Can I stream Music to an airport when I'm not using it as wifi? or is that only possible with apple tvs?

An extended network is no solution, because the censorised work network is not supporting this & we're not allowed to...
