Q: "Sent" emails disappearing into the void:

There is another discussion on this going on, yet since it has been wrongly labeled as "answered",  I guess the Apple staff haven't been following it.  So I'll start a new one.

Here is the situation: Starting from iOS 7 regardless of device, many users have been experiencing the issue where, you write or respond to an email, hit send, and the message appears to have been sent. Yet the message is not sent, and doesn't appear in Sent or Drafts folders (nor "Outbox" folder in case of Exchange email systems).  The intended receipients never receive the message, and no copy of it seems to exist anywhere.

Apple has suggested users simply delete the account from the phone, then re-create it.  That seems to solve the issue, but only temporarily. Within a few days, the problem is back. Upgrading to the latest version of iOS doesn’t help either.

This is really crippling for an office where my users rely on their iPhones and iPads quite heavily when communicating with clients.

PLEASE HELP!!

iOS 7.0.4

I have been talking to apple techinicans for the  last 6 weeks on this , they are supposed to be calling me tomorrow.  I will post a reply.  I think that if we can get enough support for this, I would say that if they cannot fix the problem then basically the phone is not doing what it is designed to do and I will be looking to replace my phone at apple expense with an alternative.

Anyone - I have an iphone 4S - is it just 4S or is it with other phones as well?

think I am getting somewhere but just one other thing for anyone reading this - the problem only seems to occur on turning off the exchange account , although once turned off it affects all accounts until phone is rebooted.

What is anyone else's experience - ie just occuring via exchange or do other accounts also trigger the problem?

    thanks

It's just exchange for me, switching that on and off then affects my icloud account. I have no other accounts set up.

update from techical 'support' today.  She seemed to agree that my exchange account was causing the issue but her suggestion was that I conatct my IT department as it was notan apple problem. I referred her to the chat rooms (which I had already sent her an email about) to say that the problem was definitely not only me and also had only arisen after the ios7 upgrade but she said that they couldn't take details from the chat room as it was the 'public' posting to it ...hello.... the public are your customers ...!

So,at the moment she has taken the info to her techical developers (which I had already asked her to do by email but hadn't been done)

I suggest that as many people bombard apple with this subject as possible and perhaps quote ref 567954553 to tie things together.

Although they talk the talk of customer service & helpfulness, I do not hold much hope with a one off query so PLEASE bombard them & keep posting !

there are other posts with very similar threads - does anyone know how to point all to he same area so that we all see all updates?  (one other is IOS7 iPhone emails disappearing, are not delivered)

ok, just reading old posts & came across one from mobile360 (from ios7 iphone emails disappearing are not delivered forum - absolutely, I reckon that we all have enough evidence to confirm this is happening - absolutely we need to go to the press - anyone any links in to the media or any idea how to do this?

This would bring it to light, & who in their right mind would buy a new phone or upgrade knowing this has been an issue for so long with no acknowledgment of responsbility or fix from apple?

    Hello everyone,

I still have this problems (disappeared sent emails on my Macbook's Mail app) after I have been many times in different applestores in my city.

I did every step they suggest me:

    - I changed my email account,

    - I used only my macbook's Mail app,

    - I left my laptop for a deep-cleaning at their technical support

But the problem is still present.

In my opinion, this problem happens mostly when I save the message in Draft, and send it after a while...

All the salespersons I met were kind, but I understood that they don't know how solve this problem... And I'm wasting a lot of my time (with the risk to have also some problems at work, due to the disappearing email...).

Nice day to all of you!

    f

please see the live thread  ios7 sent emails disappearing

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5394686?start=150&tstart=0

We have traced our problem to the exchange email account, when this is temporarily turned to off to stop recieving work emails, it then prevents  all emails being sent until the phone is rebooted.  If you are having this problem, please post on the other thread

    thanks

I'll go to the other thread too, but it is happening to my Exchange and my Gmail accounts. Also, I don't save to drafts and I don't turn off my accounts. Super frustrating. I'll also take your advice and talk with Apple.

Anything knew on this issue lately? I use a MacBook Air, and sync all my email accounts through the Cloud and Cox.net.  It regularly happens that I hit Send and my email just disappears into the web ether. I'm getting so paranoid I've started the habit of copying my emails before I send them, then checking my Sent box to see if they disappeared or not. This is crazy that we're having to deal with this issue!!!!

I just assisted an elderly friend with the purchase and setup of an iPad two days ago. His first email vanished as described repeatedly above. We tested since and works fine. The only difference was the email that vanished had several addressees and the test mails were single. The sole email account on the iPad is Hotmail. Could there be an issue with the server handling multiple recipients?

I have a Mac Book Air with IOS 10.9.4 that uses Mac Mail to connect to Yahoo and Gmail accounts.  I don't use iCloud for mail.

    My sent messages randomly disappear.

I replied to an email this morning that had two recipients and when I checked the sent file it didn't show up anywhere.

This has been going on for at least 6 months.

I have started to BCC myself to make sure it gets out.

I noticed elsewhere on this support site that iPhone users are having the same problem.

    Very frustrating.
