Using Migration assistant on new Mac Book Pro Retinal

Hi...

Need advice. I have a 2009 MBP running Lion (10.7.5).

I bought a new 2013 rMBP.

I want to transfer stuff from my old to new.

Should I:

1. when turning on new MBP... transfer stuff immediately? I think it will ask me after first start up if I want to do that. vs. Running the new MBP and updating Mavericks then use migration assistant?

2. Don't you only have one chance to name your hard drive in a MBP? If I did it initially, what will it name my HD?

Sorry... never done this before. Any help/advice is appreciated.
