-4 error app store

I"m running 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro and App Store version 1.1.2 and everytime I try to log in I get an error message followed by a secondary message with an error of (4). Just trying to update my FCPX from 10.01 to 10.09. Is there a way to reset the App Store? And can I download and install an updated App Store on a Desktop?

Apps such as Growl, Little Snitch, and MacKeeper can prevent apps from updating

Disable anti virus software if installed

Make sure the firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall

Make sure Gatekeeper is enabled

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.

Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected. If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

OS X: About Gatekeeper

The only way to reinstall the App Store on a Mac runninging v10.9 Mavericks is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
