Dec 3, 2013 1:19 PM in response to Tom Geweckeby Macthesurf,Thanks Tom,
I happened upon similar problems with InDesign users, and a user named Pooja Agrawal (refering to an instance of same problem in another validation routine) suggested opening epub in Sigil and setting font obfuscation to "none". We'll see if that solves the problem.

That should fix it. I thought I had once seen a way to keep the fonts embedded, but had forgotten exactly how.

Nov 17, 2014 1:10 PM in response to DavidSantillanaby MMImedia,I converted the EPUB to an HTML folder and searched the code for "encrypt" and "encryption" - no hits.
I tried zipping and unzipping (lord only knows what that accomplishes) and it still was blocked from entry into Book Proofer.
I urge caution about using Sigil as it seems to make changes, whether you want them or not.

Nov 17, 2014 1:32 PM in response to MMImediaby MMImedia,I found the little bugger, now I don't know how to get my document back in shape.
The encryption.xml file is in the META-INF folder.
But, that's in the HTML version of the EPUB. How can I return it to EPUB?

Nov 18, 2014 7:34 AM in response to MMImediaby Tom Gewecke,An epub is just a zipped collection of .xml, .xhtml, and other files. You should normally be able to get back by zipping what you unzipped and changing .zip to .epub.

Nov 18, 2014 7:37 AM in response to Tom Geweckeby MMImedia,I'm trying it again but the basic question remains about the encryption error message that pops up when trying to review a book for the iBookstore using Book Proofer. Is the encryption.xml the sole reason for this message?

Nov 18, 2014 7:39 AM in response to MMImediaby MMImedia,This time around, nothingness. The cover appears on the Book Proofer shelf, with a bit of whir and buzz, but not on the iBooks shelf until I 2x click on the filename in Finder, leaving me not knowing whether it worked or not.

I think so. Will your book still work if you do not choose to embed fonts? That is what causes encryption.
