Burning discs over a network not working.

I have been burning DVDs successfully over an ethernet network for sometime (two years) but ever since I switched my attached storage to a Thunderbolt drive I have burn failures. I am suspecting that the network is not staying connected for the time needed for a succesful burn. This happens irrespective of the media or the disc burner. I used a Toshiba external and then tried a Samsung BluRay external. Both have the same problem.

I am using a mini 2.23 GHZ Intel with 8GB RAM.

The attached storage is attached to an iMac 27" late 2012 via Thunderbolt. The Mini is running 10.6.8 and the iMac is running 10.8.5.

Gigabit Ethernet network with static IPs Linksys router.

Any suggestions?
