Getting videos off the iPad

Okay, admittedly this is a dumb question but I still need some help with it. I made a video of a brand facilitation on the iPad. It was about 2 hours long. Came out great. There is only one problem: it is so big I can't figure out how to get it off the iPad. I downloaded an app call UPL which would compress it really small and I could upload it to DropBox, but it was a little too low a res (192x168, 128kbps). I'm compressing to the Medium version now (480 x 320, 768kbps) and it is literally taking hours. I want to get this off the iPad and saved to a thumbdrive for archiving. With the lightning connector on the iPad, I don't have a way to stick a thumbdrive in there. I feel like the person who built and airplane in the basement. What is the best way to do this? I plan to use the iPad for more videos...the quality is good. I just need to be able to remove it after filming.

There are no dumb questions in Apple Support Discussions (OK, maybe a few).

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

The video was over 2 hours so when I plugged by connector from the ipad to the Mac and tried to import to iPhoto, it would not import. So I took it into iMovie on the iPad, saved it to a medium (lower) resolution and then was able to import as shown above. 🙂

So, my problem is solved, I just wish I could plug in a thumbdrive with a lightning connector and drag and drop. It would be so much easier :-)

Thanks everyone for you help. It helped me thing through it and make it work.
