I keep receiving a message for me to put in a password on the iphone 5s in order to even use my voicemail. I just bought the phone over the weekend and prior to this phone I had an Android. Never had a password for voicemail. Help.

I recently moved from an Android to an iphone. In the Android, I did not have a password for accessing voicemail. This phone keeps asking me to change my password. The message will not go away. It prompts me for my old password which I do not have one. When I make one up, it says that is not valid. How do I add a password and make all of this go away?

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.1
