Why is the 5th generation Black IPod touch being discontinued?

The guy at the store told us Apple wouldn't be making them any longer, does anyone know why?

Warping? haven't heard about that. Back to discontinuing... goggled it, the only thing about discontinuing is discontinuing the iPod 4 and replacing it with the iPod 5 16g black and silver - gray whatever. As far as I know the discontinuing of iPod 5 is only a rumor, if you need closure, go to the source: contact Apple.

On my slate iPod Touch 5, the metal around the camera and the loop button's paint was eventually scraped off, but none on the backplate. This is because the metal backplate's color is electrochemically infused with the color assigned to the iPod. The slate solution, over time, became grayish-blue after awhile, and was a bit expensive to make. Therefore, Space Gray was born! This was to save money, and solving a few other trivial problems,

like the blue-gray hue.
