"other" space goes up to 4GB after syncing apps

I know this questions comes up alot and i am aware of the usual clearing of browser history, cache, etc... but this problem is different. i just got an itouch 5 and everytime i restore from back up, after i sync my apps, the space jumps up to 4.5GB. After the initial restore, "other" space only takes up about 1.2GB. After i sync apps, it shoots up to over 4GB. i tried both icloud and itunes restore, and both do the same thing. Also, the icloud and itunes backups were made at different time periods. No matter which back up i use, itunes or icloud, the results are the same. other space starts off small, then the apps start syncing and it shoots up. i dont know which app is the culperate, and none of the apps or app data in the "Useage" setting indicate any of them are taking up 4GB of space. My iphone, which is my primary device doesnt even take up that much "other" space. I am at a loss because that is alot of space to loose, i would prefer to have it if i could.

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.

First try:

"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Well, I figured out the problem, but don't know how to fix it. So after searching the web, I found out that the space being used is the iOS 7 ispw. When I go to software update it says "install now" and not "download". It downloaded over the air on its own, and keeps doing it after I restore. That is why when I initially restore, "other" space is low. After all apps are downloaded and restore is complete, the iPod begins to download ios7. But I don't want to update. So? How do I stop this.

I Had already tried phone clean prior to posting this. Phone clean just reads it as content. It shows a graph for system data which only takes up a little over a gig,and shows the rest as "content" it counts iso7 ispw as "Content". It looks like my hand is being forced here. How does iso7 run on iPod touch 5g? It has been from my experience that when ever the whole number jumps to a new ISO, weaker devices tend to suffer. When my ex girlfriend updates her iPhone 3G to IOS 4, it got slower and laged. When I upgraded my iPod touch 4g from ISO 4 to 5, it got slightly slower. When I upgraded the same iPod 4g from ISO 5 to 6, it got Anoyingly slow. So I am a little hesitant from going from iso6 to 7 because I fear perforce will drop, and right now my iPod runs buttery smooth on ISP 6.1.3. I don't want to risk a perforce drop by upgrading, but loosing over a gig of data to store an ispw I don't want ***** too, so? Help?

I don't want to upgrade because there is no going back. I don't want to regret my decision either. So, I'm kinda at a loss. Either upstage and risk perfoance hinderance, or loose out on over a gig of data only for simply refusing to confirm. I thought computers had the ability to go back in time. I guess not with Idevices. This wouldn't be an issue if I was able to go back to ISO 6 if ISO 7 was indeed to taxing on the iPod.
