Brother HL-5250DN --- Updating firmware?

Well...

My Brother printer is connected to my Airport network using Bonjour.
I did not give it an IP address (and wouldn't know
how to do it anyway...).

When I try to use Brother's software (to update the firmware
or change settings on the printer), it really wants an IP address.
Giving it the address of the AEBS doesn't work, nor
giving it the supposedly default address of the printer...

I also connected it directly to the Mac and it doesn't work
either.

Not sure how to do this...

Well... it's a network printer and I'm not using
it as such. Not sure how I could do the update
without setting up a TCPéIP network... and since
I don't use it on a TCP/IP network perhaps I don't
need to update the firmware!
