Jul 16, 2006 7:20 PM in response to Shawn Lilianstromby PT,Well you can definitely access individual menu items with short cut keys if you remember them. For example Apple/command-A to select all, Command-N for a new Finder window, etc.
I am not aware of a shortcut to actually open and scroll thru menu bar selections though.

Jul 18, 2006 7:06 AM in response to Shawn Lilianstromby ali brown,Hi Again Shawn!
Do none of them work, or just the ones that indiGO! posted?
If it's the latter, did you depress the Control and F1 keys simultaneously, first?

Jul 18, 2006 3:21 PM in response to PTby George Orville,PT ....
1. Control-F1, then Control-F2
2. Use the arrow keyboard to navigate Noth/South or East/West.
3. Once you have navigated to the desired item press Enter
No mouse is required....

Jul 19, 2006 9:34 AM in response to ali brownby Shawn Lilianstrom,I tried pressing ctrl and F1 simotaneously, and all it does is turn the brightness down on my display -
Jul 19, 2006 9:47 AM in response to Shawn Lilianstromby ali brown,Shawn!
Open System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts.
Have you ever made any changes there?
Click on all of the contextual menu triangles to expand them.
Are all of the boxes on the left checkmarked?
Scroll to Turn full keyboard access on or off. Is the shortcut ^F1?
If you click on Restore Defaults, it may correct the problem. Give it a try.

Jul 19, 2006 1:06 PM in response to ali brownby PT,I tried it on my eMac (specs below) and it worked perfectly. Although I am not sure what CTRL-F1 does or I should say it wasn't clear to me if I needed to do it first, but I did and it worked. Does CTRL-F1 simply enable something? If so what?

I can not answer your last post/reply .. But yes you must use Control-F1 and the Control-F2 to have Menu control without using a mouse

Jul 19, 2006 1:51 PM in response to PTby ali brown,Patrick,
The Control and F1 keys, turn Full Keyboard Access on or OFF.
So you shouldn't need to use Control + F1 every time. Actually, if you use Control + F1 the next time, you will turn Access off, and Control + F2, won't open the menu.
You will then need to use Control + F1 again.
Make sense?

Jul 19, 2006 3:25 PM in response to ali brownby PT,Yep, I am home now and just tried it out. For some reason when I tried it last night it didn't toggle on/off, but does today. I suspect last night I was trying to toggle it while a menu/dock was still open which is why it didn't disable since it was in the middle of something.
