The new Numbers can sort just as well as the old Numbers. No functionality has been lost. But the user interface for multi-column sort is missing in Numbers 3.0. It is still easy to do multi-column sort in Numbers 3.0, though.
Say you have the following:
And say you want a sort it first by column A and within A by C and within C by B.
Just do one-column sorts in the reverse order.
First sort by B:
Then sort by column C and finally by A, giving this:
This looks slightly different in iOS but is exactly the same procedure.
And if you are going to do this particular sort a lot and want to save it so it is still available when you next open your document, just add a column D with the formula =A&C&B and then just sort on column D.
