MBA Mid 2013 (A1466) Mac OS X 10.8.5 built-in keyboard and trackpad not working

I've performed every software/firmware available update.

I've also performed SMC and PRAM reset.

But at login screen both built-in keyboard and trackpad do not respond.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Or do I have to send my MacBook Air to assistance?

Thank you for whatever help you can provide.

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Through System Information window, from Hardware > USB > USB 3.0 Hi-Speed Bus there is no "Hub" item and therefore no "Apple Internal keyboard / Trackpad". It seems that the system isn't aware of them.

In addition I'd like to add that the Mac is always properly grounded on my desk (no couch and no bed).

Yes, I did. I've been meaning to post the "solution". So here goes:

Basically, I had given up because Apple Support stated that it wasn't a software problem but a hardware problem.

Even though this conclusion didn't convince me,especially because once in a while, for just seconds, the keyboard and trackpad would spontaneously start to work, I had no choice but to give in.

I work with my Mac, so before sending in my Mac for support I decided to use an apple wifi Keyboard and mouse to retrieve some of my files etc. This simple action of using a keyboard and mouse in wifi seemed to have awaken my built-in keyboard and trackpad - and the problem was solved. Try it! Let me know if it works out, I'm sure it will = ).

I think there is a problem - I don't know if it is hardware or software, but I think it has to do with the USB. Here's why:

I originally had this exact same behavior back in Sept of 13. I have a mid-2013 MBA. Here is a link to a post I put up at the time.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5549788

At the time, I could find nothing out in any of the boards, etc, with this issue. If you read the thread referenced above, one of the last suggested things to try was a fresh install. Given that my MBA is my work machine and I tend to work a lot, finding the time to take myself offline for a day or so was a bit challenging. Instead, I began traveling with my bluetooth keyboard and mouse so that I could simply use that while I was on the road. It seemed ridiculous to travel with a full keyboard and mouse in tow when what I had was, theoretically, a laptop computer, but after being stranded with no input capability on a 72 hr trip, I decided the insurance policy of the external keyboard was worth it. I figured I would do a fresh install over the Christmas break when things were a bit more quiet. Except what happened instead was the problem seemed to stop occuring....I gained the confidence to take a couple of trips without the keyboard and things went OK...over Christmas, I was busy enough that I didn't try the new install...and...oddly, I made it through Jan and most of Feb with no issues.

Until today. Today, I am on day 1 of a 5 day trip in India...and, of course, why would I lug a keyboard all the way to India? You guessed it...my issue is back. I worked on the plane with no issues. Worked at the hotel with no issues. Came into the office...was showing a presentation and halfway through was unable to advance the slides. You guessed it...no response from the internal keyboard. A quick check of the console revealed that the dreaded AppleHSSPIController issue was back in full glory. Reboots, NVRAM resets, etc...no dice. Hitting the caps-lock key would take me out of screen saver, but the caps lock light would not go on... The only difference in terms of use at the office that I can think of is that I plugged in my USB enternet adapter at the office whereas at the hotel I was on wireless.

I now have a USB keyboard plugged in to the mac and I noticed that shortly after plugging in the USB keyboard, things start to behave again. Then I would type on the internal keyboard, leaving the USB one plugged in, and mid-sentence, my internal keyboard would stop working. Hit a few keys on the USB keyboard and my internal one would come back to life. It feels to me like some kind of conflict causes some device or controller to get in a state that makes the world go upside down and knocks out the internal trackpad/keyboard, but then USB activity (ok..specifically USB keyboard activity) seems to do something to "heal" that. Also...if I think back to when I would tote around my bluetooth keyboard, I can say that I now notice that after I used the bluetooth keyboard, my internal keyboard would start working at some later point. I never made quite the correlation that I have today as today it appears that it only takes a few minutes to get things back using the USB keyboard. I know the bluetooth controller is listed as being on the USB 3.0 Hi-speed bus...this whole thing seems to point to me at an issue with something related to the USB.
