iPod touch 4th gen appears to be dying (showing spinner) while erasing

So, I recently bought a jailbroken 8 GB iPod touch 4th gen. (It was an awesome steel - 5 bucks!) Anyway, the previous owner - who was my nextdoor neighbor, hadn't erased it. So I preceded to erase it using the settings app with the button "Erase all content and settings". I was thinking this would undo the jailbreak, but I think I was wrong. It is a tethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.3. Now it is just on a loading spinner. Is it just "dying"? It was low battery when I got it, so I plugged it in, but sometimes the wire I am using doesn't always work. Does this have anything to do with the jailbreak? Whether it does or not, is there a way I can fix it?

Regards,

Alex

P.S. It's been stuck like this for 20 minutes now.

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
