I'm getting the same error on all my apple devices ipad, ipod, iphone and mac book air
Same here, hopefully it will fix itself by tomorrow, I have some apps I need to DL!
I cannot log into itunes via my iphone 5, mac air, 2 ipad minis, or my MacBook Pro> I changed password and still get same Fatal:Unable to connect error
i have also the same problem on all my devices " fatal: Unable to connect please try again", cannot log with my primary apple ID but it let me log in with my secondary which for those who dont know it should be ........@me.com. Hopefully it will be resolve soon.
Oh thank goodness other people are having this problem! I called and spoke to a "support person" about it and she had no data on it and couldn't fix it. I will try my secondary apple ID and see if that works! Dummy me, I reset my iPad mini after backing it up and and now can't restore it. If this is only temporary, it shouldn't be that big a deal.
Wasting time with Apple Support. They have no idea what's wrong, they have no idea how to fix it, they have no idea that there is a PROBLEM with their system. What a waste of time. They need to get this fixed, problem has been going on since 4:30 yesterday afternoon. GET A CLUE
Just finished a long session with tech support. They are finally acknowledging that it's their problem. The bottom line was that I should keep trying every couple hours or so while they address the issue.
I'm on with phone support now. They are moving me to tier two. The rep stated there was a problem yesterday, but they are not aware of another problem today.
I'm East Coast.
I tried on iphone, ipad, MBA itunes. I can authenticate to this forum but I can't authenticate any device. The rep had me sign out my itunes account on my device to see if that would reset it. Trust me it does not.
Ok. Just got passed to tier two. And all she said was its a known issue. I mentioned the apple status page does not list this known issue. She said yeah but it is a known issue.
Whats the point of the darn status page? Why do I have to go through 2 levels of support just for a known issue? 1. Update your status page. 2. Let your freaking teir 1 know about your known issues! What a mess.
The same thing happened to me last night on my iMac. Problem continues this morning. I can't sign in for iTunes Match. I checked my other mac this morning. As soon as i launched iTunes on my MacBook Pro this morning the same error came up when trying to enter my password.

Same issue, since last night. Can't sign in to iTunes, download apps, or updates to apps on any device. I have iPhone 4S, iPad mini, MacBook Pro. East coast, writing this at 1:21pm EST. Changing password doesn't work. I can't log in with my iCloud address either. I have however noticed at least that if I enter the wrong password, I just get the incorrect password message. Using the right password gets the FATAL:: message every time.
I have my devices set to UK for the region even though I am in the US. Though that might have something to do with it so I switched to US- no change, same problem.
I agree that acknowledgement via their system status would be appropriate. Irritating that they are not at least publicly acknowledging there is a problem. I would feel much less concerned if I knew that they were aware and working on it. Can't find a support number anywhere but I did send a brief message via their help/contact page.
happening to me too - i can logon to the discussion site but itunes on my 5s ipad air and macbook pro are all giving that Fatal error - and Im on the East Coast
The problem seems to be fixed. I'm downloading from the app store now. Wish that I hadn't gone through so many passwords trying to solve the problem last night, though. I've used up my quota for the next two years : )
