Dec 5, 2013 6:35 AM in response to Joeb3by Alfred DeRose,★HelpfuliPods do not have their own cellular connection. If your mobile operator supports it, you can turn on the Personal Hotspot on your iPad in Settings > Personal Hotspot and connect your iPod touch to that for Internet access.

Dec 5, 2013 6:37 AM in response to Joeb3by Michael Black,★HelpfulAlong with what Alfred said, you do not need a cellular data plan to use wifi - your iPod Touch will connect to wifi nodes just fine straight out of the box.
You only need a cellular data plan for a cellular-capable device (which an iPad is not) and you do NOT want to use wifi to connect to the internet.
