Not being able to play voicemail messages

On my iPhone 4S and for a while now I've noticed every now and then I can't play my voicemail messages through visual voicemail.

I've tried a soft reset to no avail. Also, if I delete a message then press undelete it locks up and i have to come out of the call app and kill it in order to use it again. It's getting really annoying now. It happened before my recent software update and it's still happening so I don't think that's the problem.

Any clues?
