I just recently created a small partition on my external WD drive using my windows machine and I was wondering if there's a way for me to format that single partition to work with Mac OS X. Essentially I want to have a hard drive that has one partition for mac space and another for windows space.

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You should have done this using the Mac, not Windows. I suggest you remove the partition in Windows. Then switch to the Mac, repartition the drive and format it Mac OS Extended, Journaled. Note that this will only work properly if the drive is not currently all set up for Windows.

As it turns out, I was able to use the partitioned drives on the Mac. I just had to select that specific drive in the Disk Utitlity app and format it like you said, but I was able to work with the partititons that I had created on the windows machine. Thanks for the help!
