How To Format a Single Partition From a Drive to HSF?

Hi,

I just recently created a small partition on my external WD drive using my windows machine and I was wondering if there's a way for me to format that single partition to work with Mac OS X. Essentially I want to have a hard drive that has one partition for mac space and another for windows space.

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

You should have done this using the Mac, not Windows. I suggest you remove the partition in Windows. Then switch to the Mac, repartition the drive and format it Mac OS Extended, Journaled. Note that this will only work properly if the drive is not currently all set up for Windows.
