Actually, what's happening is this: What you see after the picture is taken is what somone would see if they were standing in front of you, looking at you. And no, there is no way to turn this off.
It's not a true mirror image. A true mirror image is what you see when you look in a mirror.

Well, I just looked at mine and it is the other way. There are no settings for the camera in iOS. You sure you are looking at the forward facing camera on the same side of the phone as the screen?
Wrong!!!! Everyone is wrong on here!! I'm having the same issue!! It changes the angle of the beauty mark I have on my face to the right when I have it on the left! If you see me in real life it's on my left so this "mirror" bull is wrong!! Super annoying the apple has done this!
It's always on your left, you are incorrect that it changes it to your right. Like I said in your other post, after the picture is taken, you're viewing it just like someone standing in front of you looking at you. It's on YOUR left, but it's viewed by EVERYONE looking at you on THEIR right. YOUR left and THEIR right is THE EXACT SAME THING
I think Apple could simply solve this by giving you the option for front-facing photos (selfies, if you will) to keep thems as WYSIWYG or reverse them as WOSIWYG (O for "others"). How hard would that be? Having to download another camera app to do this or using a photo editor is a nuisance. Sometimes you just want it to look exactly as it looks to you when you press the snap button, and who cares if your favorite baseball team name or whatever is reversed? And how about letting your friends & family see you how you see yourself in the mirror? Why is that any less important than you seeing yourself the way others see you? Let's be a little more open-minded.
You see a mirror image when you are looking at the phone, however once you take the picture and look at it, it is displayed correctly.
Take your phone to the Apple store then. I just took a picture of myself with both front and rear cameras and they turned out exactly the same.

No, that's not true. Take a picture holding a book next to your head. You will see the writing on the book is backwards in the picture. This is not what people see when they see you hold a book next to your head. It's what you see when you look at yourself in a mirror holding a book next to your head. The phone's taking a mirror-image picture.
Yes I understand that! But it's not natural! Your also missing the point. So then how come when somebody takes a picture with my phone of me with back of the phone the image is he other way? (The way it's supposed to be) I wish I could show you side by side images of what I'm taking about. This is a big issue that nobody seems to realize! Lol lucky me I guess...
So without all the useless details, the simple need is that if i like what i see on the screen, i dont want the camera to change anything for any reason. for example on the Mac Laptop, Photoboot gives you the exact photo you see with your eyes. Why can't the iPhone be the same. People want the photo they see with their eyes. No one needs the phone to decide what it thinks it should be. No good reason. I wish apple was listening.
Take a picture of yourself with both cameras On your phone, on both close your eyes and hold up your left hand. Keep your hand in the same position for both photos. As you will notice the pictures are the exact same. So don't give this bull about your pictures changing with different cameras and about your left and right. That's just pathetic honestly.
YOu all could not be any less helpful if you tried. I take a selfie in my SeaHawks hoodie and the picture literally looks like I was standing in front off a mirror looking at myself. The words are bass akwards. I'm not dyslexic and have perfect vision, so it's the phone. If anyone can suggest how to get THIS stupIphone 6+ to take it the correct way (like my 4s did), then please reply, otherwise handcuff your hands behind your back and keep your thoughts to yourself.
Wrong, most of you don't understand. It's like looking at an old fashioned picture negative from the backside. it is NOT a mirror image. It's like you are projecting the photo on a really thin almost translucent screen and you are standing behind the screen.
