how do I maintain the original file creation date when copying files

I need to copy files for legal proceedings and maintian the original date of creation. this to maintain part of a chain of evidence.

The files are audio files, photos in iphoto and some text and MS word files.

Word is simple but in all other cases in copying the date of creation of the new (copied) file the creation and modification dates are reset tothe date of the copy.

Is there a way to copy AND maintain origina file ifnormation for

a) system files

b) audio files

c) iPhoto files--keeping photo meta data

Thanks

PS, I am told by Apple support that a 'forced copy" (a drag and drop with the option key depressed) solves some of hte problem for some files. Will try that but their may be other infor to share about in the community.
