I have 512 MB, where can I find a SINGLE 512 MB to make 1 GB?

I know you need matching RAM, but everywhere I look it seems like you have to buy the RAM in a pair, where can I just upgrade my standard 512 MB? For cheap, if possible.

MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Your MB comes with 512 RAM but it's 2 X 256mb chips not a single 512 chip.

You will obviously need to buy 2 512's or a single 1 gb if you want 1 gb of memory.

As far as price, look at newegg.com for cheap RAM. Many people use "Patriot" RAM and have had no problems with it. 1 chip GB goes for around $80.

if you have 512 now, you have two 256s. if you got a single 512, that would not get you to 1 GB. if you want 1 GB, you need to buy two 512s.

Oh DUH! If I need matching ram to begin with, I had to have two 256 to begin with. Thanks for the help. I will check out this parrot RAM.

Patriot RAM. I have it in my BlackBook and iMac and have not had a single RAM related issue ever with either one.

Good stuff at a good price. I got 2 1GB sticks for $160 shipped.
