I word process in font size 12 but the document prints in font size 14 or larger what have I done wrong.

I need a word processing document, font size 12, to submit to university but it keeps printing out in size 14 or bigger, what has gone wrong?

Nothing. Point size seems to mean nothing to font designers. I have thousands of commercial fonts, and the chances that even half of them are built to the correct base and ascender lines so they come out to correct point size is at best, poor.


In other words, don't expect the point size you choose in a font to actually measure that height on a printed page.
