Recent upgrade of iTunes import has stopped working on XP

I recently done the latest iTunes update on main house pc that still runs windows XP. Tried I porting from a Cd and get error code 39. Having searched for a solution this seemed to indivcate a driver or hardware problem.

I them done a fresh install of ITunes on a second laptopalso runs Windows XP fine on getting my existing music from cloud etc. Tried the same to I port a cd and get the same error 39. Have tried now with several different CDs on both computers with the same problem every time.

Has iTunes stopped support for ITunes running on XP computers. I do not really want to dump my PC. As 70% of my media is now backed up into iTunes music/DVDs etc so not happy If need to rename in some new media library?
