Migration assistant

I am in shock..

About a month ago I've used the migration assistant to migrate images from our windowsnotebook to our Macbook.

I wasn't able to find these images afterwards on the Mac and wondered where they were on the Mac, but at that time no time to sort it out.

But then...today I googled my name, just to see what results my name would get, and I got a complete shock.

All the pictures of the windows notebook had gone to Photobucket, and worst of all...the files were open to public !!!!!!!

How on earth did they get there??? There was no notification they would go to Photobucket.

More than 200 people have viewed my pictures, which were meant to stay private. No shocking pictures, but not meant to share with just everyone.

And still I can't find my images on the Macbook.

Can anyone explain what happened, and how I can retrieve my pictures on the Macbook?

When you used migration assistant a new account was created on your computer. Open System Preferences, click on the Users & Groups tab, and you'll see not just the account you are currently using but a second account, the one that was migrated. You can log out of your current account and log into the migrated account to access your pictures. They will either be in the Pictures folder of that account or already in iPhoto, I don't know which since I've never actually paid attention to what happens with migrated pictures.

For those pictures to have gotten onto Photobucket through the Mac you'd have had to 1) log onto the account that was created when you migrated from the PC, 2) run iPhoto from that account, 3) configured iPhoto for Photobucket (otherwise iPhoto wouldn't know your account name and password) and 4) told iPhoto to upload the pictures. Since it sounds like you never found the account that migration assistant created I suspect user error in the configuration of permissions at Photobucket.
