I accidentally threw away an important folder and emptied trash. Can I take my Mac back in time and undue my trash removal?

If you backed it up, restore it from the backup. If not, run a program such as Data Rescue or FileSalvage; any further usage of the computer decreases the chance that it'll be recoverable.
