Has anyone any experience with late 2011 macbook pros and upgrading to ssd ?
Looking at the Samsung 840 ssd but whats the biggest difference between the Samsung 840, 840 pro and evo.
And what is there performance in like in a mac ?

Performace with an SSD in a MacBook Pro is excellent.

So 840 Pro 256 should be enough.
Do i just need a screwdriver pc kit and Im good to go ?
I have a friend with a cloning docking station so Im good in that area

If you have a dock - and the necessary tools (Phillips #00 & Torx T6) - you'll be good to go!

I was looking at the difference in the drives
The Evo 840 250GB is 97,000 IOPS and the Evo Pro 256 GB is 100,000 IOPS
The diffence in price is about €65 ? I think the Evo 840 is smaller by 6GB and is slightly slower but 3,000 IOPS seems very little ?

Just out of curiosity, Why do you need a cloning docking station? What does that do and do you need one in order to upgrade your SSD?
A dock like this "docking station":
...where you just plug your hard drive in instead of putting it in an enclosure.
