Start up disk full

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.5 with Lion. Now it's telling me my start-up disk is full. When I look at the storage, it says I have 107.66 in Other. I have read many forum discussions, but I can't figure out what to do. I can't even find "My Computer" to look at the logs.

I have backed everything up on an external hard drive using Time Machine. I don't know if I should back everything up a second time and start deleting files (mostly photos) or if I should buy more memory. I feel like I need to "clean up" the computer. I knew how to do that on a PC, but am clueless on a Mac. I've been working on this for a couple of months, but I have to get this taken care of before Christmas so that I can download pictures.

I welcome any advice!

Some things to read for you:

"Other" explained:

The best thing to do is to get an external disk drive and use it for "archive" purposes, copy or export yourphotos, vids, music, etc.. to this drive. This will allow you to access them "at will" without messing up a back up drive, which should be left alone to just do backups for a restore. This way you can after putting the large "storage hogs", pics, vids, music to be stored and readily accessed with out disturbing a system backup. (Drives are really inexpensive these days)

After comfirming that all has been copied, and is working correctly, you can then delete them from your internal drive to clear more space.

Hope this helps
