Uploading to photo sites not working. Please help.

Hi. I am having a lot of difficulty uploading photos to any site (Costco, Shutterfly, even Craig's List). I know how to follow the steps to upload, but in the actual uploading phase, it is "locking up". I use Safari 6.1 and iPhoto. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
