burn to DVD from MacBook Air to USB Superdrive

Hi. I am not totally computer illiterate but i really need some help. I have two long videos of a show that Im in in Londons West End. Several of the lads have asked for a copy and I didnt think that would be a problem. Ha!

The clips are one of an hour and the second of 40 minutes. I use a MacBook Air and I purchased a USB superdrive to do the job. Followed the instructions to the letter, but the clips wouldnt burn as in total thay came to just under 10GB! Im struggling to understand how to get round this. For instance, if I buy a movie on DVD, i can get a whole movie of more than the length Im trying to do on one disc.

Is there something I either can do or need to do?

You need to burn a video DVD using iDVD:

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

depends on what you are burning, if youre talking about ripping DVD movies or torrent downloaded movies,...thats illegal and nobody here would help you in that arena..

Could you give more specifics on the TYPE of file your burning and its SIZE, and what you are attempting to use it ON.

Also some junk consumer DVD blanks are no good and have about a 10% reject rate.

And there is no burner out that that will burn to ALL TYPES of blank DVD media.

Thanks for your reply. I'm an actor by profession and as pirating takes money out of my work I most certainly do not condone it.

To re iterate in detail.

I have an Hd video on my MacBook Air of the play that I am in. I have permission to copy this film for several colleagues.

I recorded both acts of the play separately. Act one is 1 hr and 4 minutes and is approximately 5.8 gb

Act 2 is 42 minutes and is approximately 4.9 gb

I have purchased an Apple USB. SuperDrive as the MacBook Air has no optical drive.

Those are all the details I can supply. I have purchased TDK DVD RW so clearly not rubbish.

Some help as to what to do would be greatly appreciated.
