I am playing with a G3 iBook with OS X 10.4.11 and a directly booted (not Classic) OS 9.2.2.
Wireless works OK on OS X but all attempts to use it on OS 9.2.2 via Airport 2.0.4 fail because it will not accept the password. It gives an OT error of -3151.
I have changed the password at the router from 63 random characters to an easier to remember 27 character password but it still fails despite working on OS X.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Still not working but here is an update:
1 - It works OK with router wireless security turned off, ie no encryption
2 - With encryption on it accepts a password if I type a $ (dollar sign) first - it claims to have completed the setup but self-assigns an IP and fails to work with the router's DHCP.
Does anybody have experience of these issues?
According to the Apple document at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2594 the requirements for WPA are:
AirPort software version 3 was not produced for OS 9 so it appears that OS 9 can only use WPA via third party wireless cards. It is unfortunate that the version 2 ReadMe is not more circumspect. Also the error code and error message could be more accurate.

Note the quotation marks requirement for non-Apple WEP networks - as far as I can see this requirement was omitted from the Airport 2.0.4 documentation - I will have to test WEP again.
I have tested WEP again and can confirm that the following worked for me on OS 9.2.2 with Airport 2.0.4 and my Netgear modem/router with DGTeam firmware:
1 - 64 bit encryption using 10 hex characters at the router and either the same hex characters in Airport preceded by a $ (dollar sign) or the 5 ASCii equivalent characters enclosed in double quotes.
2 - 128 bit encryption using 26 hex characters at the router and either the same hex characters in Airport preceded by a $ (dollar sign) or the 13 ASCii equivalent characters enclosed in double quotes.
I found Airport Setup Assistant useful for tsting as it overcame any stored details from earlier tests.
This has been an interesting exercise but I have decided to return my wireless network to the better security of WPA and accept that the iBook will have to use the network via OS X 10.4.11.
