Dec 7, 2013 2:15 PM in response to globalannieby Kappy,★HelpfulGet him his own Apple ID and password. Create a separate user account on your computer for his use. Then all his stuff is completely separate from yours.

Dec 7, 2013 2:16 PM in response to globalannieby Demo,If you are sharing the same computer using the same iTunes, this should be helpful.
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
If you are merely downloading content for him on his iPad, I don't see what the problem is or why there would be a conflict. Use his ID and makes sure that he is always signed in.

Dec 7, 2013 3:48 PM in response to Demoby globalannie,I have many devices and so I know how to do this - I just need to worry about him having completely separate content and if I can have two iTunes accounts on my computer...

Dec 7, 2013 6:24 PM in response to globalannieby Kappy,★HelpfulHe cannot have content separate from you but share the same iTunes Library. You can have multiple devices sharing the same Library, and they can sync different items as long as they come from the same Library. But if that isn't feasible, then you must set up separate user accounts and separate Apple IDs.
So, you can have two iTunes accounts on the same computer, but not in the same computer user account.

Dec 7, 2013 10:09 PM in response to Kappyby globalannie,Okay, this helps - but my dad doesn't want my content and I don't really want to share all of mine. He has special interests and I am hoping that I can set him up a totally separate iTunes account on my computer. Haven't seen that being possible - as it seems that it would be two program setups - but I will try.
I need to be able to put what my 90 year old aerospace physicist dad wants to look at, not what I want to see on this iPad....
Haven't gotten to finally erasing everything off of my IPad 2 and just setting up IPad air...I hope it works.

Dec 7, 2013 10:21 PM in response to globalannieby lizdance40,This info may help. Sounds like you want to set him up with his own Apple ID and iTunes library.
I share my Library with my sons and they have their own ID's. It doesn't seem to be a problem for us.
We use playlist for music. And even on the same Apple ID my iPad and iPod are set up different and don't sync the same items, even though they are on my Apple ID.

Dec 8, 2013 10:22 AM in response to globalannieby Kappy,Then do as I first suggested. Make a new user account on your computer for your dad to use. He'll have his own iTunes account on the computer this way. You also want to get him his own Apple ID. They are free.
