thank you but i know how to back up to icloud. after every backup i still have the same amount of available storage

if i back up to icloud, its gonna take away the amount of available storage in icloud. right?
have you checked the size of your back up.
if i have 3.1 available storage in icloud and i need 1.8 available storage to back up, then obviously i would not still have 3.1 available after back up. But according to my phone i still do
Is it your first back up, if not and it's just the same size as your last one, you shouldn't expect to lose any more free space.
so its just replacing the last back up
It's probably slightly different in size, it doesn't actually replace it, it just replaces the bits that have changed, but yes unless you have either added or removed something of substantial size, the back up size won't change that much.
