It does not disappear after 30 days. I've had "updates ready to install" for a few months now. Every day it asks whether I want to install them. I don't. But my only option is to defer the question for another day. So what is one's recourse if the updates do not disappear? Simply tolerate the "updates are ready" message ad infinitum?
If you are referring to the notification that pops up on the top right hand side of your screen you can stop this by going to your System Preferences> App Store and unchecking Automatically Check for Updates.
If you are referring to the App Store itself and its list of available updates, then you can't remove them, unless of course you decide to download them, once downloaded and installed they will disappear from that list and appear in the 30 day list, for 30 days.
Is there a reason you are not choosing to update?
The software update list in the App Store only retains those updates that were applied in the last 30 days.
That doesn't answer my question
I thought you would infer the answer from my statement.
You cannot remove an unwanted update from the list. It should disappear after 30 days.
