I can not download Skype on my iPad air? There is no app visible in the app store? please help, is there a way around this?

Does Skype clash with facetime on the ipad air 32gb? I am unable to find the skype ap in the app store. I found the app on another device and emailed the link to a the air but when i click on the link, the app store attempts to open but leaves a blank grey box over a blank white page. Anyone else having issues getting skype to work on the ipad air?
