Alternatives to a flash drive for my macbook pro?

Hello,

A few months ago I purchased a macbook pro 15 inch. I dont' really like having all my documents on my computer, (even before I got a macbook, my other laptop didnt' have all my documents on it) so almost my whole life has been on a flash drive. School, pictures, papers-everything. However, since my flashdrive crashed a few months ago, I have realized that I should invest in something a bit better. I've seen the AirPort Time Capsule, but does anyone have that, or know any other cheaper alternatives? Also, I have an ipad and iphone as well, can they all connect with airport?

Thank you!

MacBook Pro

Sorry to hear you lost files. The link below gives instructions on how to backup the both data that is on your system disk and data you have offloaded onto an external disk drive. I would store working documents on the internal system disk/SSD and offload files you do not need to access when transporting the Mac.

Time Machine and Time Capsule are only for backups. Do not offload live files onto a Time Machine backup drive or you will lose that data if and when the Time Machine disk fails. (All hard disks and SSD scan fail.)

Time Machine will not backup data on external flash thumb drives. Thumb drives are good for transporting data betwen machines and for quickly copying data for backups; as you have experienced, they are not good for permanent storage.
