Q: Keychain Access' "Show Password" keeps needing password EVERY time EVERY item

I am all for security but I am fed up with KeyChain Access.

First, after recent OS upgrades I noticed some web site ID/password combinations do not appear in KeyChain at all. I see many in Safari now. Yet there are other sites I find Safari autopopulating passwords though I cannot find the entry in the Safari OR the KeyChain Access app.

But most frustrating is how EVERY time I need to look up an item's password in KeyChain, it makes me type in a password for EACH item. Even when the login and the System keychains are unlocked, I have to type a password to, ummm, see a password (for a site).

Even that has become inconsistent with Mavericks. Previously once I had gone through the password typing and remembered to manually click Always Show, I would generally be able to at least see the password for that site. Now the Always Show button does not even appear. In some entries the KeyChain app makes me type just a password, in other cases it asks for a user name AND a password.

I am sure I am not the only one experiencing this torture where Security becomes so painful it is tempting to not use it, figuratively speaking.

Any suggestions (useful, usable ones, please) are appreciated. :-)
