Please help with ideas for iTunes presentation in Nursing Home....

I hope someone will be able to help me with a solution to a problem.

We need to buy some kind of touchscreen display that can accomplish our goal. Please read on.

My mom is 87 and in a nursing home. They are starting a thing where they will spotlight one resident's talent or gift each month - - - primarily artists (like a knitter, a painter, etc.)

my Mom's 'art' was her voice. an amazing voice that she has now lost. we have 10 or so really good recordings (on cd and mp3)

the idea is that there will be an area with a little 'set up' to display whatever it is to be displayed.

i'm trying to think of an EASY solution for folks to be able to visit the area, alone, and be able to hear mom's songs w/o having to know how to run electronics. And preferably to be able to pick out which song or songs they want to listen to.

it would have to be a dedicated app sort of thing, where the only app is, for example, iTunes, and the only playlist is my mom's music. A touch screen would be ideal.

i think of those displays in stores where they have a new age cd and you can touch different squares to hear the various songs. do you know what I mean?

it simply has to be a no-brainer so the old folks there, plus staff, and other visitors, could easily listen to what they want, and when they want.

Do you know of a product that would be perfect for this??

Thank you so much!!

Sincerely,

Dorothy Thomas

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general Mac OS X 10.7 forums or perhaps in the iPad forum, an iPad being an affordable touchscreen device that may well have an app available that would do what you want.

A quick suggestion: an iPad running this app:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cantunes/id670015849?mt=8

might be a workable solution. You could use Guided Access:

to lock the iPad into that app. An WiFi-only iPad 2 or third-gen iPad would probably be all that would be needed, and you might pick up one of those refurbished from Apple at an affordable price. Connect the iPad to even a small pair of speakers and it would sound pretty good.

Regards.
