Where is GMAIL located on my computer-I wish to configure it for outgoing only from my computer...

I disabled MAIL (icloud mail -the postage stamp icon ) and enabled GMAIL (imap????) on my computer.

I wanted to integrate EMAIL somehow wherever I needed it.....

Go now a little notification window pops up all the time in the top right telling me that I have new GMAIL....

In the meantime I beleive all 50,000 emails from gmail are being downlaoded onto my MAC MINI.

I think I have lost 6-8 GB in the last few days and it is like a ticking time bomb.

How can I use gmail for OUTGOING only?

How can I delete whatever has been downloaded onto my computer from GMAIL?

Where are these files located?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!

Gmail ISN'T an app. It's a server on the Internet. You can use Mac Mail, Outlook or Thunderbird with Gmail. (I use Mac Mail and Thunderbird - I have Outlook but I've never liked it).
Unless you're specifically saving the emails to a local folder, they AREN'T being downloaded, or shouldn't be, anyway. I get about a dozen emails a day in my Gmail and I have NOTHING saved locally.

You can check your configuration using instructions here: http://email.about.com/od/macosxmailtips/qt/et_gmailosxmail.htm
