A question

The iPad comes with certain fonts available to developers fo use within their apps. The fonts in the second list are available to developers if needed. This happens in the background and users never know it's happening.

No, they are not available for normal users and maybe you misunderstand. They are downloadable programatically and usable only within the framework of that app developers are building.

If your only interested in Fonts, I seriously recommend you look elsewhere as these will not be suable for any purpose outside of iOS development. There are tons of free and paid resources on the Internet.

Yes, that is what I have said now three times. I highly doubt Apple plans any updates for iOS 5 or 6. They stopped development long ago.

Forget about these fonts. What is it you are trying to do? Maybe I can offer another option.

That is a completely different issue. Don't confuse people who may read this thread with mixing questions.

You should start with reading the user guide. If you continue to have problems, come back and create a new post with your specifi problem.

I don't know how to make this more clear. You, even as a developer cannot download the fonts at all. They are only downloaded to the device by the application, for use in the application.

I'll ask only once more. Why do you need the fonts? I or someone else may have another way of helping you do what you are trying to do.

I think all of those fonts are included in OS X 10.9 for your personal use. Just have a look at the published list:
